Cisco Discovery 3

Course Syllabus MCTC Course: 784 Dual Credit: IT 223 (4 hours, West KY Community & Technical College)Prerequisites: IT 123 Introducing Routing and Switching in the Enterprise. In this course students will progress through the various services and protocols often incorporated in an enterprise environment. It will prepare students to work in environments that incorporate design practices, including VLSM, VLANs and VTP, as well as advanced routing protocols such as EIGRP and OSPF. Students will learn about the risks and benefits of using access control lists, as well as the basics of WAN implementations such as PPP. At the completion of this course, students will have learned the knowledge and skills necessary to begin an exciting career in the rapidly growing field of networking in the enterprise.

TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THIS COURSE:

  1. Read through the curriculum, answer the questions on the study guide as you read. Dedicate 1-2 hours each week of time at home for reading and studying.

  2. Take detailed notes of useful information discussed in class or found in curriculum.

  3. Complete all labs, worksheets, and assignments.

  4. Review the chapter powerpoint - be sure to take good notes.

  5. As you review for the exam, don't try to cram, instead ask questions and try to understand why.
