Framingham Basketball / Marian CYO

Marian CYO is part of Framingham Basketball.  The program participates in the Wellesley - Framingham CYO Basketball League.  The league features 80 teams across six age/gender categories.

Who Can Play:  Boys and girls who are between 9 and 14 are eligible.  There are three divisions for boys and three for girls.  Each combines two grade levels.  Age cut-off is September 1st.

Marian CYO is the best basketball value in town – travel level basketball without long trips or high costs.

Home games are played at Marian High School, a quality facility.  As a travel program we play road games versus Wayland, Wellesley and another Framingham Program.  We do not have any ridiculously far away games to places you've never heard of.  We play a 10-11 game regular season followed by an excitement-guaranteed single elimination playoff.

Man-to-Man Basketball is played at the Junior and Bantam levels.  No zone defenses in the younger age groups means that players learn offensive and defensive concepts much faster.  Competing against players close to their own age is better for the development of both the more and less skilled players.  Double teaming is prohibited outside the scoring zone.  Full court defense is only allowed at the end of each quarter/half.  All league rules are intended to promote player development.

Registration deadline is in early October.   Player evaluations occur in late October or early November.  The evaluations are used to even the strength of the teams.  The program does everything possible to avoid cuts.  Extra teams are formed as the number of players in each division warrant.  Teams practice one evening per week beginning in mid-November.   Games are on Saturdays from early December through late February.   Playoffs extend into March.
