Great Quarterfinal win!  The guys got after it on defense and rebounded well against a bigger team.  They played their way into the Final 4!  Friday is the Semi-finals.  The team we watched win the game before ours will be our opponent.  They look pretty good, but our guys are on a roll.  It should be a great game. 

Friday March 15 Playoff Semi-final     WIN MARIAN B 48 - NITTANY LIONS 47

Amazing Semifinal win!  Two very competitive teams scoring effectively.   I don't think either team was able to gain a lead of more than 4 or 5 all night.  There was energy in the gym befitting a Final Four game.  Great excitement.  The guys were down 1 with 32 seconds without the ball.  We fouled.  They missed the 1-on-1.  We rebounded the miss.  We scored the game winner with 14 to go and held on to win by 1.  Fantastic finish.  On to the Finals!

Saturday March 16 Playoff Final    LOSS MARIAN B 35 - WOLVERINES 42

These two teams fought hard to make it here.  The only two left standing from a field of twenty.  Our guys came out flat and found themselves down 10 in the first half.  Wolverines did a great job slowing us down and keeping us from running.  But the guys worked their way back into it and erased the deficit.  We were up 1 with under 5 minutes.  The championship was within reach.  But we were playing the Wolverines pace and got into foul trouble.  Down 3 with under a minute and without he ball we were forced to foul.  This time it was double bonus.  They made their foul shots and earned the victory.  Congrats to Wolverines.  Our guys had a great season and made us all proud. 

Saturday March 16 Season Celebration

We had a fantastic season.  All the guys played a ton of basketball, got a lot better, made some new friends and had lots of fun.  By my count we had 18 practices, 5 scrimmages, 10 regular season games, 4 playoff games and team nights at Marian High School and Boston College.  Thank you to Korey (Justin's mom) for organizing the terrific party and getting the giant trophies.  We had a great time.  Much thanks to all the parents for helping out this season.  First, thanks for driving the kids to so many events.  It was a big time commitment for all.  Second, thanks for helping out wherever and whenever needed; with the scoreboard, the scoresheet and everywhere else.  Special thanks to Joe Krier for assisting in coaching, driving kids who needed rides and doing so many things behind the scenes to make the season a success.  It was a pleasure working with the boys this season.   I hope all the guys keep playing basketball.

Saturday March 9 Playoff Second Round    WIN MARIAN B 41 - TARHEELS 19 

Nice playoff win!  This one was played after being postponed due to a snow storm.  The guys had the advantage against this opponent and took charge in the first half.   In the second half they kept playing defense and got out and ran.  All the guys contributed to help advance us to Elite 8.
