Marcus Knaup

Marcus Knaup is a German philosopher and Roman Catholic theologian.

Knaup is Academic Research Assistant at the Institute of Philosophy at the FernUniversität in Hagen. He has studied philosophy (Master) and catholic theology (Master) in Paderborn and Freiburg i. Br. (Germany). In his philosophical dissertation (Ph.D. thesis) he deals with the mind-body problem. His own approach to current challenges presented by modern brain research emanates from his bringing together Aristotelian Hylomorphism and phenomenology of the living body (German: “Leibphänomenologie”).


Knaup mainly works in Bioethics, philosophy of nature, anthropology, philosophy of mind and philosophy of religion.
