I am an instructor at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff and Alliance, Nebraska, located in the Nebraska panhandle. While my primary teaching duties revolve around Composition and Literature, I incorporate Nebraska history into my curriculum, both through focused writing assignments and contextual studies of the writings of John G. Neihardt and Loren Eiseley. I also give periodic presentations on Nebraska cartography, having been a guest of the Legacy of the Plains Museum (previously, the North Platte Valley and Farm and Ranch Museums of Gering, Nebraska) the Chimney Rock Visitors' Center in Bayard, Nebraska, the West Nebraska Family Research and History Center of Scottsbluff, the Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitors' Center, and the Scottsbluff/Gering Rotary organization. The collection, and study, of early Nebraska material, especially maps, and the dissemination of information regarding the development of our state, are passions of mine.
As I am always willing to create, and present, lectures or discussion-based seminars for community organizations that have a desire to learn more about the history of Nebraska, feel free to contact me, Brian Croft, at nebraska1854@gmail.com or at my WNCC office number, 308-635-6790.
