Computational Quantum Condensed Matter

Our area of research is computational and theoretical aspect of quantum condensed matter physics. We use first principles-based computer simulations to perform research on fundamental problems in quantum materials, where the interactions between the spin, charge, and structural degrees of freedom become important and lead to exciting phenomena like the high-temperature superconductivity or quantum spin Hall effect. Our research on strongly correlated materials is motivated not only to solve critical phenomena but to understand and design materials, which have potential applications for energy storage or energy saving as well as to build future electronics devices that are smaller, faster, and smarter.
