Ageing Matang's Mangroves

Using time-series of Japanese Earth Resources Satellite (JERS-1) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) Phased Array L-band SAR (PALSAR), ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 and Landsat sensor data, the age of mangrove forests regenerating with the MMFR has been determined (Figure 1). The data shows the dynamics of logging activities but also maintenance of protected areas and changes at the tidal fringe. The age class map has been generated using data acquired over a 40 year period and at least on an annual basis.
