MAK 498 Senior Design Project
Spring 2026
MAK 498 Senior design project course constitutes the culmination of four years of engineering education, where students will build on their existing knowledge by adding advanced engineering skills towards the completion of a 'design and prototyping project'. Many of the skills acquired by students that are in the traditional areas of Mechanical Engineering, such as; machine design, dynamics/control, thermal/fluid dynamics, materials/manufacturing, solid mechanics, CAD/CAM/CAE etc., will be used and synthesized for project realization during this course. However, there are also some skills -not necessarily technical in nature- that engineers must possess. These include, team-oriented working, collaborative problem solving, interdisciplinary approach, project planning and economical considerations, presentation and reporting skills, that students will experience together as a team, throughout this course before starting their professional career.
Prerequisites: Any 4 of the following junior level courses: MAK316, MAK307, MAK311, MAK302, MAK312, MAK305, MAK310
Instructor: Prof. Dr. Hakkı Özgür Ünver (Main Building 122)
Assistant: Bahman Paygozar (Technology Center- Z10)
