MSGNA Scholarships

Newly Certified Reimbursement The deadline for submission is Jan 31

This award recognizes a MSGNA Regional Society member who is newly certified. Applicants must submit certificate of certification and proof of paid fees to the Magnolia SGNA board of directors by Jan 31st following initial certification. The recipeint will be selected at the following conference and highlighted in MSGNA Newsletter, recognized at the conference at which the award is presented, and will receive reimbursement of fees paid to obtain initial certification. (ex: initial certification obtained in May 2022 at the Annual Course, appliant must submit proof by Jan 31, 2023 to be eligible). Need not be present at conference to qualify.

Re-Certified Reimbursement The deadline for submission is Jan 31

This award recognizes a MSGNA Regional Society member who is recertifying. Applicants must submit certificate of certification and proof of paid fees to the Magnolia SGNA board of directors by Jan 31st following re-certification. The recipient will be selected at the following conference and highlighted in MSGNA Newsletter, recognized at the conference at which the award is presented, and will receive reimbursement of fees paid to obtain re-certification. (ex: re-certification submitted to ABCGN by December 31, 2022, applicant must submit proof by Jan 31, 2023 to be eligible). Need not be present at conference to qualify.

SGNA Educational Grants & Scholarships

Outstanding Regional Society Award The deadline for submission is Jan 15

This award recognizes the Regional Society most active and dynamic in achieving the goals of SGNA at the Regional level. The Outstanding Regional Society will be highlighted in SGNA News, recognized at the Annual Course at which the award is presented, and will receive a banner and a $1,000 stipend.

Flame Award for Unit Excellence The deadline for submission is Feb 15.

SGNA is excited to introduce a new award. The Flame Award for Unit Excellence recognizes GI/Endoscopy Units who have shown a commitment to infection prevention, a supportive and educational work environment and positive patient outcomes. This award provides a roadmap for what is considered an exceptional work environment in a GI/Endoscopy nursing unit. Recipients of the Flame Award will be sent a framed document for display, recognition in SGNAs eScope, and mention at the SGNA Annual Course. For full criteria and the application please click here

Distinguished Service Award The deadline for submission is Dec 31.

This annual award recognizes a current SGNA member who has made significant contributions to the regional and national activities of the Society in the previous year. Applicants must have been members of SGNA for at least five years, have full- or part-time experience in gastroenterology/endoscopy in a supervisory, teaching, clinical or administrative capacity and must be serving or needs to have previously served on an SGNA National Committee. Gabriele Schindler Clinical Excellence Award The deadline for submission is Dec 31.

This annual award recognizes a member who has made important contributions in direct patient care in one or more of several performance categories. Named for an early pioneer in gastroenterology patient care, this prestigious award includes an inscribed plaque and medallion; tuition, airfare and three-day hotel stay at the Annual Course at which the presentation is made; and a feature article about the recipient in SGNA News.

Candidates must be a current SGNA member (with at least five years' prior membership), currently employed as a primary care provider in clinical gastroenterology (with at least five years' experience) and must be serving or needs to have previously served on an SGNA National Committee to be eligible for this award. Regional Society Member of the Year The deadline for submission is December 31.

This award recognizes the Regional Society member that has made a substantial positive impact in your region. Applicants must be a member of SGNA for at least five years and currently employed in the field of gastroenterology/endoscopy with a minimum of five years experience. Recipients of this award receive full annual course registration fee waived, airfare, three night-hotel stay and an award presented at the Annual Course. Advanced Associates Program Scholarship This is a quarterly scholarship and the deadlines for submission are Mar 1, Jun 1, Sep 1 and Dec 1.

SGNA Advanced Associates Program Scholarships have been established to financially assist SGNA associate/technician members and non-members with purchasing the Advanced Associates Program. The purpose of this program is to provide an associate/technician with the opportunity to further their knowledge base in the field of GI/endoscopy. Technicians and associates are able to earn a higher level of recognition as an Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS) by successfully completing the Advanced Associates Program. The program is not an official certification but does help enforce the associate/technician’s commitment to the GI/endoscopy profession. Scholarships covering the cost of the Advanced Associates Program will be awarded quarterly to those members and non-members who meet the established criteria. The number of scholarships awarded will depend upon funds available.

Associates Program Scholarship This is a quarterly scholarship and the deadlines for submission are Mar 1, Jun 1, Sep 1 and Dec 1.

SGNA Associates Program Scholarships have been established to financially assist SGNA associate/technician members and non members with purchasing the Associates Program. The Associates Program is an online education program that provides an associate/technician the opportunity to validate their skills by being recognized as a GI Technical Specialist (GTS). The Associates Program is not an official certification but does help enforce the associate/technician commitment to the GI/endoscopy profession. Scholarships covering the cost of the Associates Program will be awarded quarterly to those members and non members who meet the established criteria. SGNA Membership Dues Scholarship The deadline for submission is October 1.

SGNA Membership Dues Scholarships have been established to financially assist SGNA members with their annual membership dues. Grants of $95 (Voting Licensed Nurse) or $70 (Voting Associate) will be awarded each year to those members who meet the established criteria. The scholarship does not cover the cost of SGNA Regional dues. The number of scholarships awarded will depend upon funds available.

You are eligible to apply if you answer yes to the following:

- Have previously been a member of SGNA for two or more years

- You are currently employed as a caregiver in the field of gastroenterology

- You actively support the goals and philosophy of SGNA

- You can demonstrate financial need

You are ineligible if:

- You have previously received a Membership Dues Scholarship from SGNA or

- You are a member of the SGNA Board of Directors
