Teaching philosophies I hold true:
All students can learn and succeed at high levels
Teachers should understand the individual learning style of each child in the classroom and be able to develop lessons based on unique learning styles.
Students come first.
A safe learning environment is established in the first six weeks of school.
An effective classroom is one in which the teacher has set high expectations of students while maintaining a safe environment where children can learn.
Students and teachers should take risks.
The design of engaging lessons is essential for students to relate to information taught and develop a deeper understanding of content.
Teachers and parents are partners in educating children.
I believe in attending quality professional development in order to ensure instruction utilizes the best teaching practices.
Collaboration among colleagues inspires a shared vision for improving student learning and achievement.
My goal is for students to know that we believe in them.
Short biography:
This is my fifteenth year as an educator and I am so excited to support students and teachers as our campus 504/Testing Coordinator on our campus. Previously, I served five years as a Reading Language Arts and Social Studies Instructional Coach on a middle school campus. I attended Texas Christian University and obtained a degree in Business Administration. I worked for a large bank as a Marketing Analyst until I found my true calling as a teacher. My teaching career began with five wonderful years of teaching third graders - the last three years of teaching third grade, I represented our team as lead teacher. In the following two years, I was very fortunate to teach the amazing READ 180 intervention program. I've also served as a RtI Specialist which involved working with students in a small group setting to help them learn based on unique learning styles.
Additionally, I hold a Masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, where I studied to obtain my principal certification.
On a personal note, I am blessed to have my wonderful husband, Ash, and three amazing kiddos of my own - Alisha, Addison and Cade. In my spare time, I enjoy spending as much time with them as possible as well as reading. Our family loves to travel and enjoys visiting and learning about new places.
