Community service is an important part of Cub Scouting. Through hands-on service projects, our Scouts learn responsibility, teamwork, and what it means to give back—while helping make the Los Altos community an even better place to live.
Pack 33 has been running a Family Giving Tree gift drive at Loyola Elementary for over a decade. Each year our scouts setup a Christmas Tree adorned with gift tags from bay area families in need. Each card describes a little information about the recipient and a desired modest gift. Families at the school then return the gifts with the cards attached. Our older scouts then volunteer for warehouse shifts to help sort and wrap all of the gifts. Most years we have nearly 100 gifts donated and it is a cherished part of the Loyola School and Cub Scout Communities.
In 2024, our Wolf Den (2nd graders) partnered with GreenTown Los Altos for a local creek cleanup. Scouts collected litter while learning about the creek’s riparian habitat and the importance of protecting our local environment.
In 2026, we setup bike maintenance stations during Loyola's biannual Bike & Walk to School days to help kids with helmet adjustments, inflating tires, lubricating chains, raising seats, and basic bike maintenance and checkups.
