Facilities

The Longino lab is designed for collections-based research, morphological and phylogenetics work. Lab resources include:

    • Approximately 90,000 pinned specimens in 2400 species and 200 genera of ants, in Cornell cabinets

    • Steel drawer cabinets for fluid-stored specimens

    • Automontage imaging station

    • Micrometer stage for precision measuring

    • Dissecting microscopes

    • Desk space for students


Additionally, the School of Biological Sciences an electron microscope and abundant expertise in DNA sequencing and stable isotope analysis.
