REMEMBER EVERYONE DEPLOYED

ON FRIDAY, WE WEAR RED

If you walk into any of our offices across the country on Friday, you will notice a common theme, all of our team members wear RED!

Every Friday, Liberty Military Housing team members across the country participate in Remember Everyone Deployed (R.E.D.) Friday and wear red in honor and solidarity with those who are deployed.

While there are many origins of R.E.D., LMH instituted R.E.D. Friday in 2009. This started as a grassroots effort within our company to acknowledge and support those who are deployed and their families. As time went on, more offices participated, and soon after, the entire country was wearing RED on Fridays.

Our company proudly participated in Remember Everyone Deployed (RED) Fridays for three reasons.

First, we signal our solidarity and support to everyone in military service. We believe wearing RED supports those home and abroad, deployed, at garrison, or at sea.
Secondly, we wear RED to signal to our military families that we recognize their sacrifices and they are not alone.
Finally, our LMH teams wear RED to signal our government partners and the larger military-connected community that we are committed to living up to our mission of providing military families with exemplary service and quality home environments.

WHY IT MATTERS

Members of the United States military are deployed to more than 150 countries worldwide. While they're away from home, LMH believes it's essential we find ways to show them, and the rest of the country, that we remember and express gratitude to our military service members.

The early 2000s and the beginning years of the Global War on Terror showcased a monumental shift in the way deployments work. Operational tempos increased, which meant more deployments, more often. More frequent rotations not only impacted the service members deploying to war zones but also left a deep gorge in the lives of military families. Increased deployment rotations directly impacted the way we operate as a company. As the op tempo sped up, we realized that military families need more support in their community and need to know they're not alone.

That's why we've been working diligently to provide military families with more than just homes. We believe it is part of our mission to provide them with communities that can support the changing needs of every military family. We are committed to focusing our efforts and attention on our residents and acknowledging the sacrifice they and their families make. This gives weight to each interaction we have with our residents and helps us live up to our mission statement of providing exemplary service to all those who live in our communities.

RED Shirt Friday isn't as old as displaying a Blue Star Banner, introduced during World War I, and it's not as old as displaying a Yellow Ribbon, which signifies homefront support for American military personnel. Still, RED Shirt Friday has been around for more than fifteen years, and it's taken a firm hold with military families, the military community at large, and military-connected civilians.

As part of the broader military community, we are very aware that service members consistently put the needs of others in front of their own. Service is an act, and we want to do our part. Wearing RED is one of the smallest and simplest ways we achieve that goal.

Participating in RED Shirt Fridays is a small act to show our unwavering support and commitment to America's service members and military families. We will wear red until all of our forward-deployed service members come home.

We hope to sow the seeds of commitment, responsibility, and awareness that they are not alone.
