Effective July 1, 2025
In alignment with CA State Assembly Bill 506 all school volunteers will be required to complete a Livescan fingerprint background check as well as mandated reporter and sexual harassment prevention training to be eligible to volunteer for the 2025-2026 school year.
Please note that Fingerprint clearance may take up to 30 days to complete, and will be good for as long as you are an active volunteer. Both training courses take 1-2 hours to complete. Mandatory Reporter is valid for 1 year
Sexual Harassment training is valid for 2 years.
Unfortunately SRVUSD will no longer cover Livescan fingerprinting expenses. In addition to the fingerprinting fee, which is paid directly to the Livescan provider at the time of service, BAM will collect a $25 processing fee from each applicant or volunteer.
San Ramon Police Department is one location that offers Livescan fingerprinting the fee at this location is $48. Please note you must schedule an appointment at this location.
* Livescan results and information are specific to an organization. SRVUSD/BAM does not have access to fingerprinting results completed through other organizations. You will need to complete Livescan fingerprinting for SRVUSD/BAM in order to be cleared to volunteer in SRVUSD, even if you have been fingerprinted previously for other organizations.
If you have questions, please go through the Volunteer requirements FAQ
Ice cream social
Sep 17 2025
On September 17, Live Oak Elementary’s PTA hosted a delightful Ice Cream Social in partnership with Baskin-Robbins. Families enjoyed three delicious flavors of ice cream with a variety of fun toppings including gummy bears, sprinkles, chocolate, and caramel syrup.
The event was perfectly timed for a hot day, and it was heartwarming to see smiles on the faces of both kids and parents. This was our first time partnering with Baskin-Robbins, and it was a wonderful success!
Some fun numbers: 140 ice cream cups were served, totaling 21 lbs of ice cream (including dairy-free options), enjoyed by students, parents, teachers, and staff.
A big thank you to our volunteers Suchita Ghosh, Shipra Butail, Madhvi Owen, Joanne Lucero, Jeanna Ayedelotte, Rajesh Padiyal and everyone who joined us in making this event such a great turnout.
Family Fun Night
Aug 11 2025
It was a family fun filled evening as we welcomed TK- 3rd grade parents for Back to School Night earlier this week. Parents had an opportunity to sit down with their child's teacher in their new classroom and learn more about the wonderful activies and curriculum planned for the upcoming year school year. A warm and big Thank You to Kids Country our onsite daycare who provided free childcare during our teacher presentations. Following our teacher meet and greet was Family Fun Night open to all grades. It was a fantastic evening filled with giggles and play on bounce houses and giant games in the quad. Our LO artists filled the sidewalks with sweet chalk drawings and enjoyed sticky sweet treats from our concessions. Thank you to Menchie's for serving up the best frozen yogurt treats. Families lined up for specials from our food trucks Waffle Rooster and Crazy Empanada's and stoped by our troop tables for fun activities with the Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts. Our LO student body had an opportunity to check out and order the 25-26 spirit wear GO GOLDEN EAGLES, purchase yearbooks or sponsor an adopt-a-book from the libary. Special thank you to Bouncy Bounce, Code Ninja's and all the AMAZING volunteers who came together to kick off what will be a wonderful year at Live Oak!
Special thanks to the school admin, PTA and Ed Fund volunteers for making this a successful evening. Thank you Therese Kathka, Shawn Kathka, Sudha Pandrangi, Madhvi Owen, Tori Dombroski, Prachi Shah, Liela Hareb, Luisa Guaderrama, Jamie Guaderrama, Shipra Butal, Shwetha, Danny Bae, Wendy Sanchez and Lisa Corpus for your time and effort.
SRV Council PTA Statement on Inclusive Event Planning
“PTAs everywhere must understand and embrace the uniqueness of all individuals, appreciating that each contributes a diversity of views, experiences, cultural heritage/traditions, skills/abilities, values and preferences. When PTAs respect differences yet acknowledge shared commonalities uniting their communities, and then develop meaningful priorities based upon their knowledge, they genuinely represent their communities. When PTAs represent their communities, they gain strength and effectiveness through increased volunteer and resource support.” CAPTA Inclusion & Diversity
The San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs (“Council”) is committed to supporting our units in their efforts to continue to develop effective family engagement opportunities that are inclusive. PTA leadership, as community representatives, should collaborate with school administration to identify and eliminate barriers to family engagement related to race, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic status, family structure, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and religion.
Council strongly encourages units to offer inclusive events. We value inclusion and diversity of our various communities. Culture, family structure, gender and sexual orientation should not deter participation in PTA events. Families and students should not need to call out their differences to feel included.
Gender-neutral events are more welcoming and culturally inclusive. A majority of units in the SRVUSD have replaced gender-specific events with gender-neutral ones. Parent-child events need not be cancelled; rather, the nomenclature is changing with the times. Units have received positive responses to events such as “Pastries with Parents,” “Family Dance,” “Sweetheart Dance” or “VIP Dance”. These are just a few creative ways to use language to foster inclusion.
PTA stands for “All Children, All Families” and our motto is “Every Child, One Voice.” National and California PTA have long encouraged PTA units to plan events that are inclusive. Inclusive events more effectively serve all children and all families and lead to greater parental and community engagement, which benefits every child. We recommend that unit Presidents collaborate with their principal on inclusive language and events so that students and families are always welcome to events sponsored by the PTA.
