Welcome to the companion website for living and learning with technology!  Here you will find information and resources to help you complete the unit tasks. You will create authentic products that you can use in your future teaching and present your completed tasks on a website and wiki that you create. Authentic tasks that encourage and support student engagement and immersion in a cognitive real environment can facilitate self-directed and independent learning (Herrington, 2006), encourage confidence, cultivate patience, and flexibility (Lombardi, 2007).

Teachers need to feel comfortable using technology in their classrooms, and more importantly, they need to know how to encourage their students to use technology to learn and solve problems, and create polished and sharable products. This unit provides practical and theoretical understanding on educational technologies, not as hardware and software that are objects of study themselves, but as useful tools that impact on our everyday lives. The unit gives you the opportunity to explore technology as social beings, as student learners and researchers at university, and as classroom teachers (Unit guide, 2011).
