Here are some of the tasks we'll be doing during group work. Find them interesting? Then, join us.
M 10/19: What do you know about the equal sign? What does it mean in a math equation? These are some of the questions we will be exploring.
T 10/20: How do you work through a story problem? Check out the pdf below. For example,
Tim, Joan, and Mindy Henderson went for a ride through the country side. They bought 120 strawberries from a roadside stand. If they divided the strawberries equally, how many strawberries would each person get? Draw a picture of what this looks like. Write at least two different equations to represent this story.
W 10/21: Queen Victoria's reign was known for making novels a popular reading form. Novels began to be more about everyday working class people, especially women. To learn more about Queen Victoria's sixty-four year reign, look at her scrapbook.
R 10/22: We have a pile of hypotheses that we posed and proved - and disproved - two weeks ago. Today, we are continuing with our line of thinking to figure out how a potato can light up a light bulb with the help of a battery. Tonight, we'll be attending the SLCC Community Writing Center's community reading. Five of us will be reading our latest stories in front of this live audience.
F 10/23: We'll continue with our exploration of what's involved in making daily decisions. The afternoon group is reading Robinson Crusoe.
