Competitive postdoctoral fellowship

The triennial Bergmann-Wheeler thesis prize is awarded by the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation (ISGRG) for the best thesis in quantum gravity. My thesis was selected for this award by a panel of judges for advances in the causal dynamical triangulation and causal set approaches to quantum gravity, combining analytical and numerical insights.

for the best student presentation in session D3 at GR20 (2013)

Teaching

In December 2021 I won a teaching prize from the students of the faculty of physics in Vienna.

I do supervise M.Sc. and B.Sc. students who are enrolled at the University of Vienna. If you are interested in this please email me.

In 2020 I have taught my first proper lecture course. It was a lecture about Quantum Gravity, in which I introduced ~20 M.Sc. students to different approaches to Quantum Gravity over a semester. This was co-taught with Professor Stefan Fredenhagen.

Starting in 2008 I have gathered experience as a teaching assistant in different theoretical physics classes. These always were small group exercises of about 20 people which were focused on working closely with students. The topics I have taught like this ranged widely, including; electro dynamics, statistical physics, classical mechanics, quantum field theory and a course in quantum geometry for which I also generated problem sets.

Conference organisation and academic service

I am co-organizer the virtual seminar series ``Quantum Gravity Across Approaches'' with Aaron Held, Sebastian Fischetti and Sebastian Steinhaus, and have co-organized of the virtual causal set conference ``The virtual causet'' with William Cunningham, Sumati Surya and Yasaman Yazdi.

I have co-organized the open data repository for data from quantum gravity computer simulations, the ``Encyclopedia of Quantum Geometries''

I am also politically active and am co-organizing the u:queer the advocacy and networking group for queer people at the University of Vienna

i have organised a workshop ``Quantum Gravity on the computer'' at Nordita in Stockholm, 5-9th Mar 2018

Member of the Advisory Panel of IOP Classical and Quantum Gravity and have also reviewed papers for General Relativity and Gravitation and Computer Physics Communications.

Professional memberships

I am a member of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation and the Cost Network Q-Space on the Quantum structure of spacetime.
