Introduction to Social Network Analysis

This is a 4-day workshop providing a comprehensive introduction to the concepts and methods of social network analysis.
Day 1. Conceptual Overview
Led by Dan Brass, a broad overview of the entire field, including an introduction to concepts and review of the literature. Includes a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the network approach, and perspectives on the future of the field.
Days 2-4. Social Network Analysis
Led by Rich DeJordy, with help from Travis Grosser, Ginny Kidwell, Chris Sterling, and Josh Marineau. Key concepts of network analysis are presented conceptually and then illustrated through the analysis of real data using UCINET software. In addition, we cover data collection issues, research design issues, and ways of getting network data into the software.
