Welcome

The base cost of the workshop is approximately $1600, but students pay only half price, or $800. In addition, we often offer discounts for early registration. Except for a few special events, costs do not include food, lodging or transportation. Registration generally opens Feb 15 and closes May 15. Full refunds for cancellations can be obtained up until one week before the workshop.

The annual LINKS Center summer workshop provides training in social network analysis (SNA) at both beginner's and advanced levels. The workshop is taught by a team of instructors which typically include Steve Borgatti, Dan Brass, Rich DeJordy, Dan Halgin, Jeff Johnson, David Krackhardt, Joe Labianca, and Ajay Mehra. The workshop lasts 6 days (including a conference day), and is usually taught the first full week in June on the University of Kentucky campus.

We typically divide the workshop into optional modules that can be mixed and matched. The modules vary by topic and by level of expertise assumed. The first day (Sunday) is developmental conference where participants at both beginner and advanced levels can present their works in progress and get expert feedback. The last day of workshop (Friday) is an applications day where participants can choose different application areas, such as management research, management consulting, healthcare applications, crime and terrorism, and so on.
