· Cheer athletes must understand the importance of building a strong foundation for their future, which includes excelling in the classroom. No matter where an athlete is headed after high school (working world, trade school, college), we want them to build a transcript that they can be proud of.
· Athletes must also acknowledge that cheerleading is a privilege, and that they must maintain a D plus or better in all classes, in order to perform.
· The ability to listen to others opinions and respect that they differ from person to person.
· Being able to take critiques from coaches and peers as ways to improve as a cheerleader and a person, and not as a put down or an attack on your character.
· Respecting the differences of others as everyone has different ideas and thoughts to include, even if you don’t agree. This includes respecting others religious and cultural beliefs and not making one feel they are less than for being different from you.
· The understanding that we are responsible to our coaches, our teammates, and our teachers. The acknowledgment of the fact that there are consequences when we fall short of what is expected of us.
· Athletes must be open to differences of opinions and critiques from coaches and teammates.
· The understanding that cheerleaders are role models for their peers (and for younger students), and are responsible for the impression that they give to others.
