My name is Sokchea Lim. It used to be Sokchea Kim, which appeared in my MA and BS degrees and some of my research papers.

I am currently an Associate Professor of Economics at John Carroll University. My research interests are Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, Development Economics and International Trade. More specifically, I work on Two-Country Dynamic Macro Model, International Migration and Remittances, Trust, Familial Culture, and Child Adoption.

I started teaching Economics in 2002 to underprivileged kids at the vocational training center of Pour un Sourire d' Enfant in Cambodia. My love for teaching, interest in students' learning, experience in different classrooms and with students from different backgrounds have shaped my current teaching style. I care for every student in my class and want all to learn everything.

I am a native of Cambodia. I was born in Kratie province. My family moved to Kompong Cham province for a few years before settling in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia in mid 1980s.

I went to Bak Touk Schools for general education, finishing high school in 1996. In 2001, I graduated from the Faculty of Law and Economics Science (now Royal University of Law and Economics) with a B.S. in Economics. I worked for Cambodia Air Traffic Services Co. Ltd. for a few years before obtaining the Japanese Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) to attend a Master program at International University of Japan. I came back to Cambodia and started work for ANZ Royal Bank as an FX dealer and then the Treasury Manager of the Bank. I came to the U.S. to do my PhD in 2009, graduated in 2013, and started teaching at John Carroll University that same year.

I am married with twin boys, Devin and Kevin, and a girl, Abby. My wife, Nary, and I live in Solon, Ohio.
