My communications, journalism and writing experience has covered a range of different topics, areas and industries. From music to sport, corporate programs to infrastructure projects, my portfolio is a vast collection of work that focuses on both traditional and digital forms of media.
As an internal communications specialist I have experience leading, designing and producing content independently and as part of a team. I work with a broad range of stakeholders to improve their communication performance and develop meaningful strategies. I have excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills and am comfortable working on multiple and complex projects.
Some of my work is showcased below. For more, scroll down to the bottom of the page.
WOMEN OF INFLUENCE
Web design | Video production | Digital content | Script writing
2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017
Fairfax Media's internal Women of Influence awards program is centred around promoting diversity and raising gender equality to the top of the agenda. The program runs concurrently with The Australian Financial Review's 100 Women of Influence awards and highlights the many talented women across the business. The awards recognise and celebrate exceptional women who use their influence to achieve great things.
My role as the Communications Lead for this program involves producing communications to encourage nominations, promote the campaign and showcase all of the nominees and finalists. Specifically I lead the design, production and publication of:
My personal highlight working on this program was seeing the participation rate increase year-on-year, with 2016 receiving the highest number of nomination on record.

EMPLOYEE SELF SERVICE
Communications | Web design | Video production | Stakeholder engagement | Digital content
2014, 2015 & 2016
The work to introduce a new payroll system at Fairfax Media was one of the largest change management projects ever undertaken at the company. The intricacies of a new system, combined with the significant impact on employees (both in Australia and New Zealand) meant that a one-size-fits-all communications approach would not suffice.
As the Communications Lead on this major project, I was responsible for the design, production and dissemination of content during implementation. The project was unique in that it impacted all employees and faced significant geographical challenges. Our communications approach included the creation of a new 'ESS' brand, official website, training and informative videos, email marketing, key messages, Town Hall presentation content, posters and a 'roaming FAQ Hub' that traveled across various regions in Australia and New Zealand. Our communications approach was successful in that its purpose was to put our internal stakeholders at the heart of everything we delivered.
My personal highlight in working on this project was being able to take the various challenges on board and deliver a successful communications outcome that is now mirrored across other projects at Fairfax Media.

SOUL INVADERS RADIO SERIES
Research | Scripting | Interviews | Editing | Audio production
2009 & 2010
During my university studies I produced a 6-part radio series titled 'Soul Invaders': An exploration of the Heavy Metal Culture in Contemporary Newcastle and Sydney, Australia. The series focused on the anthropological, social and cultural aspects of the Australian music scene and how niche subcultures and music communities operate in Australia.
Focusing on heavy metal music in Australia which included interviews with various key figures, including musicians, promoters, academics and fans. The radio series has since aired on London heavy metal radio show ‘The Lair’ and shared online via social media.
My personal highlight in working on this project was combining my passion for music and multimedia production to produce a comprehensive insight into an often misunderstood musical subculture.
HAND. CANNOT. ERASE. | AN INTERVIEW WITH STEVE WILSON
Interview | Web design | Digital content
2016
Steven Wilson is a highly accomplished musician, producer, singer & songwriter. In recent years he has seen an exponential growth in popularity with sold-out tours across the world, including Australia.
As a music journalist for street press, Reverb Magazine, I interviewed Wilson as he prepared for the Australian leg of his 2016 Hand. Cannot. Erase. Tour. This interview was published in print and online, and also featured on my own personal blog. Wilson's popularity combined with his profound storytelling meant the review received a significant surge in online traffic, with over 5,000 people accessing the article.
My personal highlight writing this piece was the recognition it received amongst fans, but also Steven Wilson himself. Shortly after publication, Wilson actively promoted the piece on his own Twitter and Facebook profiles.

LEARNING HUB CAMPAIGN
Digital content | Posters | Web design
2016
A key focus for Fairfax in 2016 was to improve access to and delivery of learning and training content for employees. This focus saw the introduction of Fairfax's 'Learning Hub' - a comprehensive website that was all about providing quality content in a fast, practical and easy way.
To support the new site, I worked as the Communications Specialist on the Learning Hub Launch campaign. This involved brainstorming a campaign 'theme' and producing communication materials to support the new brand. We produced a series of posters - in both digital and print format - to drum up interest in the new Hub. Other communication materials included key messages, presentation materials and email communications to the business.
My personal highlight in working on this project was in designing and delivering a unique campaign based around learning. Our series of posters created great buzz around the office due to it's clever take on current events (e.g. the Presidential Election, World Cup Qualifiers etc.) and saw strong traffic numbers to the site.
FAIRFAX TALKS SERIES
Communications | Web design | Video production
2014, 2015 & 2016
At Fairfax one of our key strategies is to find, amplify and share the conversations that matter in our communities. In line with this strategy, the Corporate Communications team created a unique internal forum for sharing unique ideas and current discussion topics called 'FFX Talks'. The series was centred around key external speakers that delivered presentations about their areas of expertise.
Topics spanned a wide range of areas - from comparing leadership qualities to the intricate workings of the brain (Silvia Damiano's "All about my Brain") to gender diversity and the path to equality (by former Sex Discrimination Commissioner and 2014 100 Women of Influence winner, Elizabeth Broderick) - the forum was about bringing unique and thought-provoking topics of conversation to our employees.
My personal highlight working on this project was the ability to create a website that showcased videos of each presentation. I believe the series was a new and fresh way to engage with our employees (both in Australia and New Zealand) and provide them with interesting content to spark conversation and debate.
