My name is Lilen Pautasso. I was born in Argentina and migrated to Australia at a very young age with my family. I am bilingual - Spanish and English - and embrace both cultures as part of what defines me. In November 2017, I permanently relocated to London on a Tier 5 (Youth Mobility) visa. I am now on a Tier 2 sponsorship visa through my employment at Guardian News & Media.

I am a graduate of the University of Newcastle, receiving a Bachelor of Communication (Honours, Division 1), majoring in Journalism. I'm a communications professional, video producer and journalist with experience in the media and professional services industries. My work has appeared across online and print newspapers, magazines, blogs, radio and corporate settings.

I am an approachable and friendly person. In my professional career I have worked hard to create positive cultural and social changes at work and I am a strong believer in the importance of purpose and values as part of my work. I am inspired to work in a place that promotes independent storytelling, innovation and creativity and alongside individuals that inspire me on a daily basis.

SKILLS & PORTFOLIO OF WORK

COMMUNICATIONS

My journalism background has enabled me to develop key strengths in feature writing, report writing, editing and communications. I have a strong news sense and an understanding of the changing nature of the newsroom.

I have led the implementation of new strategies, tactics and tools to significantly improve the communications process and increase overall engagement. I have worked across cultures, business groups and with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. I have a strong belief in the importance of purpose and values and the ways in which this is reflected in the work that we do as communicators.

I continue to work as a contributing journalist for a music magazine in London, and dedicate a lot of my personal time to photography, writing and audio-visual production.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

My interest in multi-platform content led me to complete professional training as a video editor and producer with the internationally-renowned Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

I see the video process from concept to finished product - managing the scripting, shooting and post-production process independently. I am skilled in the use of content production tools including the Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects), audio editing software (ProTools), Content Management Systems (Wordpress, Stratos Media) and cloud-based systems (Google Suite).

I am also proficient using video equipment, particularly DSLR cameras, GoPros and RODE Microphones. My goal is to combine my passion for video production with my day-to-day work.

AUDIO

My interest in podcasting started in 2010 when I produced my first podcast series 'Soul Invaders' - a socio-anthropological investigation into the heavy metal music culture in Australia.

My experience in audio has moved into voice-over work and production. I provide ad readings that feature across all of the The Guardian's podcast portfolio, including Today in Focus, Football Weekly, Full Story, Science Weekly, The Books Podcast, and Audio Long Reads (amongst others).

I am currently producing a new podcast series - 'Cooped up' - based on the experiences of friends during the government-sanctioned lockdowns around the world following the coronavirus pandemic. This short series is now available on Spotify.
