Students new to band should register for a beginning band class.
Students should register for the Symphonic Band if they were in the Elementary School Band.
Students with one or more years of experience please see placement information located below
Ligon Sounds of Summer Band Camp 2026: August 3 - August 7
Open to all rising 6th-8th grade band students, including beginners!
Sessions for Beginners, Jazz Band (non-beginners), and Concert Band (non-beginners)
Instrument specific instructors as well as full ensemble experiences with a concert at the end of the week

Beginning Band
No prior music experience is necessary for the beginning band, however, some of our students have piano, guitar. or drums experience.
Each beginning band student will need their own instrument, instrument cleaning supplies, and a band method book. Students should wait to get an instrument until after the spring or fall instrument trial where information will be provided.
Spring Instrument Trial/Fitting date coming soon
Expect Evening Performances - 1 per quarter

Advanced Bands Audition and Jazz Bands Audition
*Students in a Jazz Band class must be enrolled concurrently in a regular band class to learn the basic fundamentals and techniques for playing their instrument.
