From the brief report on the work of this Task Force, presented at the ACRL Instruction Section's Executive Committee meeting, Midwinter 2008...
"In June 2006, the ACRL Instruction Section appointed a virtual Library School Outreach Task Force whose adjusted charge reads as follows:
To develop ideas and examples for a toolkit of print and online resources to assist graduate students in library and information science programs in advocating for library instruction and information literacy courses and to inform them about professional development opportunities offered by ACRL; to develop draft expectations for outreach volunteers and draft procedures for recruiting people to serve as outreach volunteers at institutions with library schools; to develop a draft proposed training plan and timeline for preparing outreach volunteers to speak at library schools; and to develop draft guidelines and a draft template for initiating the conversation with library schools to arrange for the volunteers' visits. Ongoing recruitment, training, and updates of the toolkit will be the responsibility of the Professional Education Committee.The task force will submit to the IS Executive Committee the draft toolkit in November, 2007 and related draft guidelines and procedures in February 2008."
The virtual Task Force submitted a number of ideas, drafts and examples for a toolkit of print and online resources as described in the charge, and will submit related draft guidelines and procedures in February 2008."
