Short Bio

Yili Lian is an Associate Professor of Finance and Ernie T. Gemperle Endowed Chair in Finance Fellow (2021-2024) at California State University, Stanislaus. Before he joined Stan State, he was a tenured Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University, Scranton Campus. He has taught at Baruch College for five years during the Ph.D. Program.

His research interests are empirical corporate finance and financial institutions. Currently he works on banking, cash holding, customer-supplier relationship, and labor unions. He received the Best Doctoral Student Paper Award in 2012 Southern Finance Association Annual Meeting at Charleston, SC., and the Highly Commended Awards twice from Review of Accounting and Finance in 2017 and 2019.

He graduated from Baruch College with a Ph.D. in Finance in May 2013, from Peking University with a Master of Finance degree in July 2007, and from University of International Business and Economics with a Bachelor of Accounting degree in July 2004.
