Profile:
Lalitha Guruprasad obtained her M. Sc (1989) and Ph. D (1994) in Chemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. She worked as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Birkbeck College, London and Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, in collaboration with Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, London and Glaxo-Wellcome, Stevenage, UK. She worked on the characterization of the function and structure of some of the proteins in the signal transduction pathways, for instance, SH2 domains and their interaction with phosphorylated peptides, SH3 domain-polyproline interactions and PH domain. Lalitha Guruprasad has used tools in molecular biology, protein purification, structure determination using X-ray crystallography and protein-ligand binding assays using ITC and surface plasmon resonance. She also worked as a post doctoral research fellow at CCMB, Hyderabad, India.
Dr. Lalitha Guruprasad joined the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad as a Lecturer, in October 2000. She was a Reader and Associate Professor from 2004-2010, Professor of Chemistry in November 2010, and a Senior Professor from December 2022 onwards.
