L’entrepreneur québécois Luc Poirier a provoqué les téléspectateurs de l’émission TOUT LE MONDE EN PARLE sur Radio-Canada, en déclarant qu’il n’était pas en affaires pour l’argent…
Je ne connais absolument pas Poirier, mais ce qu’il dit est vrai.
J’ai personnellement côtoyé, ou connu de très près, trois grands hommes d’affaires québécois.
Pierre Péladeau, Jean Coutu et Paul Desmarais Sr. .
Ils avaient tous les trois le même discours que Poirier!
« On n’est pas un entrepreneur à succès pour l’argent! »
Péladeau disait que ce qui le motivait, c’était de gagner face aux concurrents; Jean Coutu répétait que son plaisir de vie avait été de bâtir un empire de pharmacies; et Paul Desmarais aimait faire dominer Power Corp. face à ses adversaires.
Pour ces trois entrepreneurs, l’argent n’était qu’un pointage de leurs compétitions respectives. Une sorte de course de chevaux dont ils terminaient en tête de peloton…
« Le plaisir de la vie c’est d’avoir des passions. Sans passion, la vie devient triste! » comme me l’avait confié le pharmacien Jean Coutu, lequel fêtera ses 99 ans le 28 mai prochain…

Quebec entrepreneur Luc Poirier provoked viewers of Radio-Canada’s TOUT LE MONDE EN PARLE by declaring that he wasn’t in business for the money…
I don’t know Poirier at all, but what he says is true.
I have personally rubbed shoulders with, or known very closely, three great Quebec businessmen:
Pierre Péladeau, Jean Coutu, and Paul Desmarais Sr.
All three of them echoed Poirier’s sentiment!
“You don’t become a successful entrepreneur for the money!”
Péladeau said that what motivated him was beating the competition; Jean Coutu repeated that his joy in life had been building a pharmacy empire; and Paul Desmarais loved seeing Power Corp. dominate its rivals.
For these three entrepreneurs, money was merely a score in their respective competitions. A sort of horse race in which they finished at the head of the pack…
“The joy of life is having passions. Without passion, life becomes sad!” as pharmacist Jean Coutu once told me; he will celebrate his 99th birthday on May 28…

Alors que tout le Québec pleure le départ de Roger Brulotte, cet événement met encore une fois en lumière "l’inéluctable transition" que nous devrons tous faire un jour…
Étant moi-même un vieil homme, je m’interroge souvent sur ce que sera mon dernier moment de ce voyage sur la planète Terre!
Plusieurs de mes amis ont déjà quitté, mais il vaut mieux ne pas trop penser à la fin et plutôt profiter du voyage…
Il faut vivre avec les vivants et laisser les morts en compagnie des morts !
Bon printemps 2026...

As all of Quebec mourns the passing of Roger Brulotte, this event once again brings into focus the “inevitable transition” we will all face one day…
Being an old man myself, I often wonder what my final moment on this journey on planet Earth will be like!
Many of my friends have already passed away, but it’s better not to dwell too much on the end and instead enjoy the journey…
We must live with the living and leave the dead in the company of the dead!

L’AMITIÉ D’UNE VIE…

J’ai récemment vu ma voisine, une femme de carrière qui habituellement manifeste très peu ses émotions, pleurer face à la perte de ses deux chiens yorkshire décédés de vieillesse…
Cela m’a rappelé l'époque où j’avais dû me séparer de mon cheval, une bête pour qui j’avais développé une véritable amitié…
Moi aussi j’avais pleuré en disant adieu à mon cheval!
La situation de ma voisine, ainsi que la mienne dans une autre vie, n’a rien d’unique, et tous ceux qui ont des animaux de compagnie vivent eux aussi une amitié profonde avec leur animal et sont toujours profondément tristes de s'en séparer.
Je dis souvent qu’un animal est plus fidèle en amitié qu’un humain…
Bon courage à ma voisine!

I recently saw my neighbor, a career woman who usually shows very little emotion, crying over the loss of her two Yorkshire terriers, who had passed away from old age…
It reminded me of the time I had to part with my horse, an animal with whom I had developed a true friendship…
I, too, had cried as I said a final goodbye to my horse!
My neighbor’s situation, as well as my own in a past life, is by no means unique, and everyone who has a pet also experiences a deep friendship with their animal companion and is always deeply sad to part with them.
I often say that an animal is more loyal in friendship than a human…
Good luck to my neighbor!

PABLO RODRIGUEZ ET SES ENNEMIS

De plus en plus d’indices démontrent que Pablo Rodriguez a été la cible d’un complot bien organisé et que les textos accusateurs mentionnés dans le Journal de Montréal étaient faux.
Un groupe voulait l’éliminer de la scène politique québécoise et de la possibilité qu’il soit élu premier ministre.
La question est de savoir qui est l’auteur du complot ?
S’il s’agissait d’un film de fiction, je dirais que ce sont des militants d’un parti politique adverse…
Aucune conclusion finale n’est émise par les autorités faisant les enquêtes, mais ce qu’il faut retenir, c’est que la réalité dépasse souvent la fiction!

PABLO RODRIGUEZ AND HIS ENEMIES

More and more evidence suggests that Pablo Rodriguez was the target of a well-organized plot and that the incriminating text messages mentioned in the Journal de Montréal were fake.
A group wanted to remove him from the Quebec political scene and prevent him from being elected premier.
The question is: who is behind the plot?
If this were a fictional movie, I would say it was activists from an opposing political party...
No final conclusion has been reached by the investigating authorities, but what must be remembered is that reality often surpasses fiction!
