LES VALEURS DE LA VIE…

Lors d'une marche autour du lac, je pensais aux valeurs de ma vie. Selon moi, il existe trois valeurs fondamentales pour déterminer qui sont mes amis et qui je veux avoir dans mon environnement :
1. La loyauté;
2. Le courage de ses opinions (se tenir debout devant les autres);
3. Avoir une connivance mutuelle l’un envers l’autre.
Évidemment, ce sont mes règles de vie à moi, et s'il y avait une quatrième valeur, ce serait celle de vivre et de laisser vivre sans essayer d'imposer mes idées ni de me faire convaincre par les idées des autres. On revient un peu à la valeur deux : se tenir debout.

LIFE'S VALUES…

During a walk around the lake, I was thinking about my life’s values. In my view, three fundamental values determine who my friends are and who I want to have in my life:
1. Loyalty;
2. The courage to stand by one’s opinions (standing up for oneself in front of others);
3. Mutual understanding and support for one another.
Of course, these are my own personal guiding principles, and if there were a fourth value, it would be to live and let live—without trying to impose my ideas on others or letting myself be swayed by the ideas of others. This brings us back somewhat to the second value: standing up for oneself.

UN GOUVERNEMENT MINORITAIRE AU QUÉBEC EN 2026

Il devient de plus en plus évident que le prochain gouvernement du Québec sera minoritaire et que le parti politique en tête devra former une coalition avec l’un des deux autres partis qui le talonnent pour diriger le Québec.
Si le Parti libéral entre premier, une coalition avec la CAQ serait naturelle, mais on peut aussi en déduire que si Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon entre premier, il devrait attendre un deuxième mandat pour son option référendaire (en 2030) car jamais ni le Parti libéral ni la CAQ n’accepteront d’appuyer le parti québécois dans une motion référendaire.
Personnellement, j’ai promis à un ancien confrère journaliste, Philippe Schnobb, de voter pour lui, mais je lui ai bien souligné que mon vote était pour lui en tant qu'individu et non pas pour le Parti québécois.
D'ailleurs, tous ceux qui me connaissent savent que je suis un fan de Mark Carney et que j’aimais aussi beaucoup Pablo Rodriguez…

A MINORITY GOVERNMENT IN QUEBEC IN 2026

It is becoming increasingly clear that Quebec’s next government will be a minority government and that the leading political party will have to form a coalition with one of the two other parties close behind it in order to govern Quebec.
If the Liberal Party comes in first, a coalition with the CAQ would be the natural choice, but we can also predict that if Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon comes in first, he would have to wait until a second term for his referendum initiative (in 2030), since neither the Liberal Party nor the CAQ will ever agree to support the Parti Québécois on a referendum motion.
Personally, I promised to a former fellow journalist, Philippe Schnobb, that I would vote for him, but I made it clear to him that my vote was for him as an individual and not for the Parti Québécois.
In fact, everyone who knows me knows that I’m a fan of Mark Carney and that I was also a big fan of Pablo Rodriguez…

THE ART OF LEADERSHIP -

Friends often ask me why leaders I admire, such as Donald Trump or Elon Musk, aren’t more democratic in their decision-making and don’t consult the general public to build consensus on their actions.
My answer is: why should they?
Throughout history, leaders have always imposed their personal ideas through their actions, whether in politics or business. Ultimately, that’s what makes a great leader.
Of course, there will always be those who are dissatisfied, but that’s just how life goes.
There’s also that universal adage: “Whoever has the chair makes the decisions.” The trick is to keep the chair; otherwise, you’re out...
Personally, in politics, I’m a moderate centrist, but I love Donald Trump’s right-wing persona for his style. Since 2016, I’ve had a lot of fun watching Donald with his gruff and unpredictable personality, which is very much like my own—minus the power and financial wealth.
I also love how Donald has no filter when expressing his opinions verbally.
As for Elon Musk, I feel pure and simple admiration for a genius of our time, comparable to a Steve Jobs or a Mark Zuckerberg. All three—Elon, Steve, and Mark—have changed the world with their innovations!
As for my friend Donald, he will have written a chapter in American political history...

L'ART DU LEADERSHIP-

Des amis me demandent souvent pourquoi des leaders que j’admire, comme Donald Trump ou Elon Musk, ne sont pas plus démocratiques dans leurs prises de décision et ne consultent pas le grand public afin d'obtenir un consensus sur leurs actions.
Ma réponse est : pourquoi le feraient-ils ?
De tout temps, les leaders ont toujours imposé leurs idées personnelles dans leurs actions, que ce soit en politique ou en affaires. C'est au final ce qui fait un grand leader.
Évidemment, il y aura toujours des mécontents, mais ainsi va la vie.
Il existe aussi cet adage universel : « Celui qui a la chaise est celui qui décide. » Le truc, c'est de garder la chaise, sinon vous êtes éliminé…
Personnellement, en politique, je suis un modéré du centre, mais j'adore le personnage de droite qu'est Donald Trump pour sa dégaine. Depuis 2016, j'ai eu énormément de plaisir à observer Donald avec son caractère bourru et imprévisible qui ressemble en grande partie au mien — mais avec le pouvoir et la fortune financière en moins.
J'aime aussi l'absence de filtre de Donald dans l'expression verbale de ses opinions.
En ce qui concerne Elon Musk, c'est de l'admiration pure et simple de ma part envers un génie de notre époque, comparable à un Steve Jobs ou un Mark Zuckerberg. Tous les trois — Elon, Steve et Mark — ont changé le monde avec leurs créations !
En ce qui concerne mon ami Donald, il aura écrit un chapitre marquant de l’histoire politique américaine...

LA CATHÉDRALE DE LA VIE -

Depuis mon adolescence, j'ai toujours fréquenté le gymnase, parfois avec des machines très spécialisées, parfois artisanales...
Ma routine a évolué avec les années, et si je m’étais imposé un entraînement vigoureux plus jeune, en vieillissant, j’ai ralenti le rythme .
Pour être persistant dans la routine du gymnase, il faut aimer le moment, sinon on abandonne après quelques visites…
À une époque, je m’entraînais en moyenne 2 heures par session, mais aujourd’hui, ce sont 30 minutes de tapis roulant et 15 minutes de musculation.
Pour moi, la séance au gymnase est aussi une forme de méditation quotidienne chaque matin à 8 heures avant le café.
Le gymnase est comme une cathédrale. Je suis seul dans ma bulle avec mes écouteurs pour la musique et depuis plus d’un an, ma musique du gymnase est celle de Hildegard von Bingen.
Justement, une musique de cathédrale…

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve always gone to the gym—sometimes using highly specialized machines, sometimes homemade ones…
My routine has evolved over the years, and while I used to push myself with intense workouts when I was younger, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve slowed down the pace. To stick with a gym routine, you have to enjoy the experience; otherwise, you’ll give up after just a few visits…
At one point, I used to work out for an average of two hours per session, but today it’s 30 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes of weight training. For me, my gym session is also a form of daily meditation every morning at 8 a.m., before my coffee. The gym is like a cathedral. I’m alone in my own little world with my headphones on, listening to music, and for over a year now, my gym music has been Hildegard von Bingen. It’s cathedral music…

LA CIVILISATION EN 2026 -

Je me suis amusé à demander à l'Intelligence artificielle comment la société évoluera au cours des prochaines années. S'il est une certitude, c'est que 100 ans dans les années 1950 équivaut aujourd'hui à 10 ans, tellement l'évolution et les changements sont rapides.
Personnellement, durant mon enfance, j'ai connu l'époque des vaches qui broutaient devant la maison de mes parents…
Plus tard, j'ai vu naître la télévision en noir et blanc et le téléphone avec une ligne commune partagée avec nos voisins.
L'image de la télévision m'a fait découvrir la vie fictive de Star Trek et la magie de la téléportation.
C'est ma mère qui, à la même époque, m'a initié à la photographie, d'abord en noir et blanc puis sur film couleur. Ma mère était une sorte de précurseur de Photoshop car elle corrigeait au crayon les défauts des photos papier, comme ajouter des cheveux à mon père. Yousuf Karsh faisait la même chose dans son studio avec ses créations...
En 2026, Photoshop est devenu une sorte de super magicien, une technologie qui, ajoutée au téléphone cellulaire et à l'intelligence artificielle, rend l'image totalement virtuelle et aux limites de l’imagination.
Par ailleurs, en politique, moi qui ai connu plusieurs présidents américains au cours des ans, je peux conclure qu'aucun n'a atteint les accomplissements qu'ils promettaient. C'est aussi vrai pour tous les autres politiciens, qu'ils soient canadiens, québécois ou municipaux.
Que nous réserve l'avenir avec l'intelligence artificielle? Est-ce que nous quitterons la Terre pour la planète Mars, comme le propose le visionnaire et l'homme le plus riche du monde, Elon Musk? Tout est possible, sauf qu'il est probable qu'aucun de nous ne vivra cette réalité car l'humain est encore mortel et ne peut pas dépasser 100 ans de vie! Mais 100 ans dans le monde d'aujourd'hui, c'est comme 1 000 ans à l'époque d'Ulysse...
Et comme me le disait l'IA, j'aurai vécu une époque de tous les changements: du plancher des vaches jusqu'à l'univers actuel de notre humanité devenu insaisissable.

I had some fun asking artificial intelligence how society will evolve over the next few years. If there’s one thing we can be certain of, it’s that 100 years in the 1950s is equivalent to 10 years today—that’s how rapidly evolution and change are occurring.
Personally, I remember the days from my childhood when cows grazed in front of my parents' house…
Later, I witnessed the advent of black-and-white television and the telephone with a shared line between our neighbors. Television introduced me to the fictional world of *Star Trek* and the magic of teleportation. It was my mother who, around the same time, introduced me to photography—first in black and white, then on color film. My mother was a sort of precursor to Photoshop because she would use a pencil to correct flaws in the paper photos, like adding hair to my father’s head. Yousuf Karsh did the same thing in his studio with his creations…
By 2026, Photoshop had become a sort of super magician—a technology that, when combined with cell phones and artificial intelligence, made images completely virtual and pushed the boundaries of the imagination.
Furthermore, in politics—having known several U.S. presidents over the years—I can conclude that none of them achieved the accomplishments they promised. This is also true for all other politicians, whether they’re Canadian, Québécois, or municipal.
What does the future hold for us with artificial intelligence? Will we leave Earth for Mars, as proposed by the visionary and the richest man on the planet, Elon Musk? Anything is possible, though it’s likely that none of us will live to see it, since humans are still mortal and cannot live beyond 100 years! But 100 years in today's world is like 1000 years in the time of Ulysses...
And as the AI told me, I will have lived through an era of profound change: from the down-to-earth beginnings to the current, elusive universe of our humanity.
