ABOUT

LEON HENDROFF is a designer and illustrator with a speciality in puppets. He has worked in the graphic design and illustration industry before branching into puppetry, a passion since childhood.

Leon completed a BA Design (Curtin University, 2001), winning several awards including the inaugural Australian Graphic Design Association Scholarship. In 2005 he did a course with master puppet maker Jiri Zmitko, and in 2008 did a masterclass with the Quanzhou Marionette Troupe. In 2009 Leon was awarded a UNIMA Australia scholarship, to study with acclaimed puppeteer and director Noriko Nishimoto.

Since 2005 Leon has designed and made puppets for performance, retail, display and events, including numerous Spare Parts Puppet Theatre productions and award winning creations for Joondalup Festival. He has also been conducting puppet workshops for children and adults.
