The Legal Theory Workshop is Melbourne Law School’s seminar series for legal theory scholarship, broadly defined. We meet five times each semester during the academic year to discuss unpublished works-in-progress with guest authors. LTW guests include leading and emerging legal scholars from throughout Australasia and overseas.
Each seminar features an unpublished article-length paper from a guest author, which is circulated and read by participants in advance. We use a discussion-based format to facilitate in-depth engagement and maximise feedback for authors. Each seminar begins with a short set of introductory comments from the author, followed by comments from a discussant. Most of the time is dedicated to general discussion and Q&A with the author.
Our current schedule of meeting dates (including guests and topics) can be found here. Contact information and instructions for joining the LTW mailing list can be found here.
The LTW seminar series was launched in 2011 by A/Prof Lael ('Lulu') Weis, who convenes the series with Prof Dale Smith.
