LEEDS HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO PRESENT “READING THE MAINE LANDSCAPE”

On Saturday, October 18th, the Leeds Historical Society will present “Reading the Maine Landscape”. Join us for a program led by Maine Forest Service District Forester and Leeds resident Julie Davenport, where we’ll journey through over 200 years of land use history and uncover the hidden stories etched into the landscape around us. Explore the ways Maine’s forests, farms, and fields have changed over time by reading clues left behind like stone walls, old stumps, and soil patterns. Whether you’re a landowner, nature enthusiast, or history buff, you’ll learn practical techniques to decode the unique history of your own land and gain a deeper appreciation for the legacy around you. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the past and better understand the land you love.

Please join us at1:00 p.m.on October 18th at the Leeds History Center, Rt. 106, Leeds, Maine.  The event is free (donations gratefully accepted) and everyone is welcome.  Refreshments will be served. For more information, please call Laura Juraska at 524-2324.
