Leckhampstead Church. On Friday 10 November there will be an evening of music and memories in the church featuring Mary Harwood on the organ and a display of memorabilia of Old Leckhampstead including old photos of the village, maps, 1881 census, crowning of the Leckhampstead Festival of Britain Queen in 1951, etc, 7 pm onwards, price £10 including wine and nibbles, in aid of the church roof. Tickets £10 from Angela Sutton 638285 and Philip Seymour 638532. Display only on Saturday 11th, £5, 10- 4pm.
The Friends of St James are running this event. We raise money only for the building itself and have been doing this since 2011. So far we have paid towards the repair of the stained glass window, repair of the wall outside the church and also roughly 50% of the cost of repair of the church porch which is to be done in the very near future. The church roof urgently needs to be replaced as one can see the sky through it in several places and, of course, the rain gets in. This event has something for everyone in the village, from Thicket to Hill Green, and we are looking for a big turnout. Please help keep our church.
