2024-205:Co-supervision of a Visiting Researcher (4th year MSc student) from the University of Manchester (Alex Kapadia), undertaking his placement year in research at Heriot-Watt University on kinetics and stability of amorphous calcium carbonate, synthesised without inhibitor, aiming OAE.
2023-2024: Co-supervision of a PhD student (Rachel Millar) working on the sustainable production of hydrated carbonate minerals for ocean alkalinity enhancement through the design, procurement, testing, and commissioning of a prototype reactor for hydrated carbonate minerals production. This continues to be informed by and validated using results of bespoke computer simulation. Optimal conditions are being identified using batch experimental studies focusing on temperature, dissolution/precipitation pressure, seeding, and aqueous elemental composition.
2018-2019: Co-supervision of a MSc student (Joe Piccolo-Lawrance) working on establishing a FTIR library of carbonate minerals using an Agilent 4300 Handheld Portable device.
2018-2021: Lectures and practicals in sedimentology (sequence stratigraphy, microbial carbonates) and Economic Geosciences (seismic surveying and interpretation, petrophysics and log interpretation) with third year undergraduate students (400 hours).
September 2018 & September 2019: Skye Field Course with second year undergraduate students (140 hours), Igneous and Metamorphic rocks module.
March 2018 & March 2019: Cyprus Field Course with third year undergraduate students (160 hours), Advanced Sedimentological Field Study.
November 2017: Practicals of Microscopy with first year undergraduate students (15 hours), Rocks, Minerals and Fossils.
