Alan Cleaver is a freelance journalist living in Whitehaven, Cumbria UK. He has a foot in both the digital camp and the 'real world' camp. He built one of the first UK websites in 1995 (the Wycombe & South Bucks Star) and went on to build several websites including work on The Times and Sunday Times websites before their launch in 1997. He also pioneered e-newspapers at the Hampshire Chronicle in 1999. But he is also a bookbinder, calligrapher and lover of books. His other hobbies include fell-walking, photography and chess.
