INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO LASER HAIR REMOVAL APPOINTMENT
- Avoid sun tanning or use of sun tanning beds on treatment area 1 month prior to laser treatment. Use sunscreen (SPF 30 or more) on sun exposed skin over the treated area.
- Avoid self tanning products 2 weeks prior to treatment.
- Do not tweeze, wax or thread hair in areas you wish to have treated.
- It is recommended to close shave prior to your appointment, or use a depilatory cream 24-48hrs prior to appointment.
- A topical anaesthetic (Emla) may be used for discomfort.
AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT
- Pinkness swelling and mild sunburn sensation in the treatment area are normal. This resolves 24-48hrs after treatment.
- A pimple like post reaction can occur in areas of highly dense hair growth. It is a heat reaction and will usually resolve in less than a week. Use an antibacterial soap.
- Ice pack, cold compresses. Vinegar can provide comfort as well as decrease pinkness and swelling time.
- Avoid picking, scratching or using harsh products on treated area.
- Do not apply perfume, cream makeup or deodorant on treated area for the first day.
- Continue to avoid tanning for further treatments.
- Avoid irritants (glycol's, retinoids etc.) for 10 days after treatment.
- Shedding of hair will occur 10-14 days after treatment and will so 2-3 weeks following the treatment. This may appear as hair growth. Its actually hair being expelled from the follicle. You may assist the process by using a face cloth or loofah.
- You may shave bleach or use depilatory creams between treatments.
- If small pinprick crusts appear it is important they are not removed from the skin sooner than the natural process would allow.
