This page includes a few special musical pieces that Larry selected and played. Here is a brief description of each:
- We Come to Your Feast - This recording is Larry playing this song on the piano. No introduction, no singing, just Larry. The song was composed by Larry's good friend Fr. Michael Joncas. [ We Come to Your Feast - LYRICS ]
- I Will Rise - This was recorded by St. Christopher choir in 2014 as part of a tribute project to Father Mike Welch and Larry Hurt. A limited number of CD's were produced and some may still be available from St. Christopher in Speedway, Indiana. [ I Will Rise - LYRICS ]
- Jubilee - This was recorded during Father Mike's 40th Jubilee Mass in June 2010, less than a month before Larry's untimely death. I'm sorry, the audio is not great. It was recorded (thankfully) by someone with a small audio recorder sitting in the audience. What makes this recording special is it begins with a short introduction by Larry (possibly the last recording of Larry's voice.) Listen carefully and you will hear Larry explain that this song was carefully selected just for the Jubilee mass and that all sorts of efforts were used to keep it a secret from Fr. Mike including stopping in the middle of rehearsal if/when Fr. Mike walked in as well as preparing a special program just for Fr. Mike that omitted this song. Sadly, the St. Christopher choir sang this song during Larry's funeral mass.
- Pie Jesu - This recording also is included on the 2014 CD. What makes this recording so very special is Larry recorded the audio piano track many years ago. During the 2014 recording session, the sound engineers laid the instrumental, soloists, and choir parts over Larry's piano track, thereby allowing Larry to posthumously reunite with his choir for one very special moment in time.
- Sacred Land - This is the version the choir recorded and included on their 2014 CD. This song was composed by Liam Lawton and the lyrics were not only appropriate for celebrating Fr. Mike's 40th Jubilee but I believe you will agree they accurately reflect the life Larry lead and the life he encouraged others to lead. [ Sacred Land - LYRICS ]
