"The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor." --Vince Lombardi

A simple definition of leadership is that it is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards a common goal. Put even more simply, the leader is the inspiration and director of the action. He or she is the person in the group that possesses the combination of personality and skills that makes others want to follow his or her direction.

The idea for this award came because Coach Findley was a leader that thrived in interacting with his players and students. He made others want to follow his direction. He had great Box Elder Bee Spirit, was good at what he did, and went the extra mile to make students feel appreciated.

The Larry Findley Leadership Award will be presented annually to a member of the Box Elder High School staff whose, "actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more"

- John Quincy Adams
