Dr. Pierre Larmande is a senior research scientist at the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), based in Montpellier, France (UMR DIADE). His research focuses on bioinformatics for plant sciences, with expertise in knowledge graphs, semantic web technologies, data integration, and AI-driven knowledge discovery.
He is the principal investigator of the AgroLD Knowledge Graph, integrating heterogeneous agronomic and genomic data, and co-developer of Gigwa, a web application for managing large-scale genotyping data. He also leads and contributes to major research initiatives such as the ANR DIG-AI project (2023–2026) on genotype–phenotype integration with AI and knowledge graphs, and the PEPR BreIF facility (2023–2028) for plant data infrastructures.
Dr. Larmande has a PhD in Computer Science (University of Montpellier, 2007) and a Habilitation (HDR, 2020). He has previously led the data integration group at the LIRMM/IBC (2013–2017) and directed the ICT Lab at USTH in Vietnam (2017–2020). He regularly serves on program committees (SWAT4HCLS, EKAW, ISMB) and has co-organized several international workshops.
His recent work includes publications on knowledge graph construction for plant genomics, semantic data integration, and advanced NLP/NER models.
