Surviving and Thriving using Web 2.0 Tools: Some International Examples
A display and brief explanation of innovative projects and curriculum ideas in an informal format that lends itself to discuss and interaction
Participants will share their experiences using weblogs, wikispaces, epals.com, eportfolio.org, and Moodle for secondary and university learning and teaching. The presenter will overview his uses of weblogs as a platform for students to document the impact of cultural events on campus and to store collaborative, online projects like CultureQuest. A virtual community of future teachers in Connecticut using Wikispaces will be showcased. epals.com will be discussed for its potential for global collaboration and Moodle for online learning and teaching . The presenter will also discuss experiences eportfolio.org, the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium’s platform for students’ projects and individual and program assessment. The presenter will also share his experiences with using these tools while on a Fulbright exchange at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in Thailand. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences with these and other Web 2.0 tools and their plans for next steps in a connected world.
