Expectations

1. What swimmers do outside of the swim team affects practice and performance on the team. Therefore, swimmers will choose to meet demands placed on them by the sport. This includes a healthy diet, getting adequate sleep, time management and conscientious decisions regarding other activities that may cause injury. It also includes abstaining from consuming alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco and other artificial supplements or drugs.

2. Attendance of all practices and meets is critical. If there is a conflict with practices or scheduled meets, the head coach needs to be notified with a written excuse from a parent/guardian, teacher or medical professional. Unexcused absences will result in not swimming in meets. Swimmers are expected to participate in all scheduled dual meets throughout the season in order to compete in the MWL District Championships. Absences from meets need to be excused.

3. If an injury occurs during the season, in or out of the pool, and practice needs to be modified to prevent further injury, written communication from a medical professional (doctor, physical therapist, CHS athletic trainer) needs to be given to the head coach. This communication must include specific accommodations and a timeline for returning to normal practice (or a timeline for future appointments with said medical professional). If an appointment is scheduled in the near future, the head coach needs to receive written communication from a parent/guardian stating when the appointment will take place. If there has been no written communication, swimmers will be expected to fully participate in practice.

4. Being punctual for practices and meets is critical. More specifically, swimmers will be on deck dressed and ready to swim prior to when the practice or meets are scheduled to begin. Swimmers are expected to be a part of the team and to support teammates during the entire duration of meets. If arrangements need to be made to arrive late and leave early, a parent/guardian must notify the head coach in writing prior to the event.

5. Swimmers must be enrolled in 4 classes and passing 4 classes to participate (2.0 credits) and on track to graduate (IHS classes are slightly different).

6. Swimmers must maintain a positive attitude and remain open to constructive feedback from coaches and/or teammates in order to participate on the team.

7. Swimmers are guests at Echo Hollow Pool and will treat the facility and staff with respect. Violation of pool rules will not be tolerated.
