***Nathan Lietke Natural Disaster/COVID Clause (Version 2.0)***

If a starting player is to get a game canceled or postponed to a different week (occurring after noon on Saturday), OR it is proven that a starting player has tested positive for COVID-19 or needs to self quarantine (proven after noon on Saturday), then the person will get the average (rounded to the nearest whole number) of all the ACTIVE players on his bench for that position that week . . . as opposed to the 0 that the person received in years past.  ACTIVE is defined as not on a bye, not injured, transferred, medical redshirt, academically ineligible, suspended, etc.  If there are no ACTIVE players on his bench for that position, then the person will get the average (rounded to the nearest whole number) of all the ACTIVE players on the league's bench for that position that week.  In the case of a kicker and/or defense, if there are no "ACTIVE players on the league's bench", then the person in question will get the average (rounded to the nearest whole number) of the starters in the league for that position that week.  A before-noon-on-Saturday cancellation/postponement/positive test/need to quarantine would require the person to select another player into the starting lineup in order to prevent a 0 from occurring.  

Mercy Rule

• A mercy will occur in a week when a player beats an opponent by 75 or more points.  A $15 fine will be assessed to the person who lost the mercy, and will be awarded to the person who won the mercy. $30 worth of mercy money (or 2 mercies) must be paid before the start of a season, and reimbursed at the end of year if a person has not had a mercy against him.  

NO Injured Players and Pickups

• Injuries and Pickups were voted out for the start of the 2012 season due to too much ambiguity with injury situations in the league and what actually validates a person to pick up another player.

• Instead, to offset the injuries that do take place in college fantasy football, each person will draft an additional QB, RB, WR, and K (making the totals 5, 7, 7, and 3, respectively). With the 2 D/ST drafted remaining the same as always, that brought the draft totals to 24 rounds (2 keepers and 22 drafted players).

• Effective in 2021 (supposed to be 2020; delayed due to COVID), each person will draft an additional QB, RB, and WR (making the totals 6, 8, and 8, respectively).  With the 3 K and 2 D/ST drafted remaining the same, that brings the draft totals to 27 rounds (2 keepers and 25 drafted players).

• These additional players can be drafted any time during the 25-round draft, not necessarily in the last 7 extra rounds of the draft.  

• No Trades

Player Position Changes

• If a player changes positions in the middle of a season, that player will remain in the original position as drafted (e.g. QB drafted switches to WR in the football season.  Even though the player drafted is at a new position, if a person wants to start him, that person must start him as a QB . . . not a WR.).  If that player happened to be kept or drafted the following year, then the player would take on his current position role in the league (i.e. now that same player would be a WR, not a QB.).

• If there is a question of a certain player and what position he plays, a vote will take place at the appropriate moment in the draft (either before the entire draft or before he officially goes on somebody's team) based on the league's expertise and research on the subject to deem what is best for that player.

Ties

A tie has only occurred a handful of times in the history of this league.  Unfortunately for us, the first time it occurred was during a playoff game in 2006, and we didn’t have a rule in place.  To avoid making a rule up after the fact again,

• If a tie occurs during the regular season, then the tiebreaker will be: (1) top QB/RB/WR from the starting lineup of that week, (2) top 5 scorers from the starting lineup of that week, and (3) bench points from that week.  If a tie still occurs from going through these 3 tiebreakers, then the tie will remain in place.

• If a tie occurs during playoff games, each person will pick 5 starters from our roster to be used for tiebreaker purposes.  If a game is actually a tie, then it will go to just those 5 designated players from both teams’ rosters.  If that is a tie, then the basis will go to all reserves on both teams from that week.  If that is a tie: (a) during first round of playoffs and trophy race, both participants move on to the following week to decide actual participant based on final week score.  Money will be paid out after tiebreaker has finally been decided.  (b) during Lake Orion Bowl and Mohican Bowl, next tiebreaker will be total points in season, then head-to-head outcome during regular season, then put weeks in hat and draw out a week and see who had more points during that week, and continue to do this until tie is broken.

Scheduling

•   12 weeks of regular season action (starting Tuesday, August 27; ending Monday, November 18)

•   2 divisions of 4 teams each (Big Ten – Andy, Steve, John, Nathan)    (SEC – Nick, Ryan, Pete, Brandon)

•  Each person is required to keep two players from his original roster from the previous season (except for 2021 draft, due to COVID year in 2020).  A person can choose to keep additional players (must be done before 1st round begins), but if they do so, the person will vacate their first round pick (and subsequent round picks if more than one additional player is kept), and go to the back of the second round (or to the back of whatever the next round is after vacating each required round).  If multiple players choose this option, their first round draft order will determine who drafts 8th, 7th, and so forth in the second round (or any same round that multiple people enter the draft).

•   Top two teams in each division advance to playoffs

•  Tiebreakers to decide position week and playoff standings will be (1) head-to-head, (2) conference record, (3) total points.  If there is a 3 or 4-way tie and there is a separation after looking at a conference record, it will go back thru the tiebreakers (starting with head-to-head) to break the rest of the ties.

•  Playoffs

Week 13 (Nov. 19) – 1st place vs. 2nd place in each division

•  Consolation Playoffs

Week 13 (Nov. 19) – 3rd place vs. 4th place in each division

•  Lake Orion Bowl

Week 14 (Nov. 26) – Winners of the playoffs

Week 14 (Nov. 26) – Losers of the consolation playoffs

•   A week starts on a Tuesday and ends on a Monday

•  Draft order of 1st round: (1) Andy (2) Nick (3) Steve (4) Ryan (5) John (6) Pete (7) Nathan (8) Brandon

•   We will draw cards every round to determine the round order the rest of the way.

•  10thRound Rule: During the draft, if a person chooses a player that has already been drafted (11th round or later), that person will go to the end of the line and draft 8th in that round.

•  Normally (i.e. a 13-week season), each person will play 2 games against every person in their division (total of 6 games), and 1 game against non-divisional opponents (total of 4 games), and a position week in the division.  In a 14-week season, an extra divisional game will be played:

• Week 0: if someone on a roster plays in Week 0, the person has the option to start them in their Week 1 lineup, only if that player's team does not have a game in Week 1.  As always, the person would have to notify the League Commissioner before the player's Week 0 game kicks off.

•  No longer need to have lineups called/e-mailed in by noon on Saturday each week.  If you have somebody playing at any time during the week, it is your responsibility to enter that player into Fantrax accordingly.

All rules are open to being amended, deleted, added, etc.  In order to change a rule, there must be a majority vote in favor of the change (5 to 3).  During the regular season (or off-season), if a vote must take place because no precedence has ever been set for a certain rule, and that vote ends in a 4-4 tie (or any tie for that matter), then the ruling will go to the league champion from the previous year.
