Welcome!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that frightens us. Actually, who are you not to be?...Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory...that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."  -  Nelson Mandela, inaugural address, written by Marianne Williamson

About Us

Thanks for visiting the Lafayette High School Counseling Department website! Our counselors and staff are dedicated to making students and parents feel welcome at Lafayette High and helping all students to meet personal goals and succeed not only in school, but also in later life.

Back when most of us adults went to high school, everything just seemed much simpler. There was only one set of graduation requirements for everyone, we were only just beginning to use this new thing called the "internet", and "cell phones" came in a big leather bag that stayed in your car! Now we have three different graduation options in the state of Louisiana, the internet has become a part of practically every minute of our lives, and most of us begin to hyperventilate if we accidentally left our cell phone on the kitchen counter when we went to work!

With these and many other changes, it's hard for students and parents to keep track of all the important information that is necessary to be successful. We hope that you will find the information on this site helpful in navigating your way through high school, and also that your many questions are answered. But don't worry. If you still have questions, no problem! Just send us an email or give us a call, and we'll be glad to help you get the information you need.
