Ashley Nettleman (Ashley Kulczycki)
Let's be honest, this website's main purpose is to differentiate myself from the other Ashley Nettlemans when you do a search for Ashley Nettleman.
Biography
Graduated from Michigan State University in May, 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in German. Graduated from the University of Notre Dame in January, 2015 with a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
I enjoy helping out with FIRST Lego League (https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/fll) tournaments especially as a referee. It continually amazes me the creative solutions that the middle school students come up with to accomplish that year's set of missions. I've managed to find time to volunteer at a tournament every year since 2005 when I was a senior in high school with my FIRST Robotics team.
My hobbies include using my sewing/embroidery machine to make personalized items and playing percussion or guitar at church services.
Research Experience
- 2011-2014 Graduate Student at University of Notre Dame working under Dr. Goodwine in the area of controls. (Thesis, Published and Presented at Conference)
- 2010 Summer Study Abroad at RWTH Aachen, Germany working at the Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) on a project to reduce the amount of vibrations an on-loom camera experienced. (Published)
- 2009-2011 Undergraduate Research Assistant at Michigan State University working under Dr. Shaw. Projects included computer simulation and modal analysis of a Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) device and meso-scale model of a MEMS device studied in the lab.
- 2008 Honors Option Project at Michigan State University under Dr. Baek studying the properties of a beetle's forewing. (Published)
