About Me
I am an Associate Professor (with tenure) and Cyrus C. K. Curtis Research Fellow in the Department of Statistics, Operations, and Data Science (SODS) at Temple University's Fox School of Business, and a faculty affiliate of the Temple Data Science Institute. Prior to joining Temple in 2017, I was a Postdoctoral Associate and Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Biostatistics at Yale University (working with Dr. Hongyu Zhao). I received my Ph.D. in Statistics from The Pennsylvania State University (advised by Dr. Bing Li) and my B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics from National Taiwan University.
I develop statistical methods for learning dependence and causal structure, prediction, and inference from functions, event patterns, and other complex random objects. My research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and Temple University, and appears in The Annals of Statistics, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series B, Journal of the American Statistical Association, Biometrika, and Journal of Machine Learning Research.
Graphical Models, Causal Discovery & Structural Equation Modeling: Operator-based undirected and directed graphical models (DAGs) for high-dimensional and functional networks.
Functional, Point Process & Object/Non-Euclidean Data Analysis: Regression and prediction with point process data, including generalized point process additive models for replicated event histories and spatial or temporal point patterns.
Sufficient Dimension Reduction (SDR) & High-Dimensional Inference: Nonlinear and functional SDR, SDR in general metric spaces, and variable selection in ultra-high dimensions.
Biomedical, Neuroimaging & Health Data Science Applications: Brain effective and structural connectivity (fMRI, EEG, structural connectomes), electronic health record (EHR) event sequences, and genome-wide association and pathway/network analysis.
