Prof. K.P.S Rana (M.Sc., M.Tech., Ph.D.)
Academic Background:
Prof. K.P.S Rana received M.Sc. degree in Physics (Specialization in Electronics) from Meerut University, Meerut in 1989, and M.Tech. degree in Optical Instrumentation from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India, in 1991, and Ph.D. degree on “Intelligent methods for complex vibration measurement and control” from GGSIP University in 2011.
Professional Background:
He has served Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) from 1993 - 2000 as Scientist ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ in sensors division at Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS), ISRO Satellite Center (ISAC), Bangalore and contributed significantly towards innovative designs of camera. Since August 2000 he has been with Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), Delhi University, New Delhi at the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering. At NSIT he has served as Assistant Professor from August 2000 – December 2005, as Associate Professor from January 2006 – October 2011, and Professor from November 2011 – September 2018. Since September 2018 he has been Professor with NSUT and recently he has been promoted to Sr. Professor from November 2021.
He has a h-index of 35 (Google Scholar) and h-10-index of 70 (Google Scholar) leading to total citations as on 20/05/2026 as 3626. He has published over 70 international peer reviewed journal articles and more than 100 conference proceeding papers. My ORCID reference is https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1283-8620. He has been elected as fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) (F-119028-4) and fellow of The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (SIRO Recognized by DSIR, Govt. of India) (IETE) (F-502787). I am a life member of The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) (M-56000).

His current research and teaching interest includes Measuring circuits and Instrumentation, Sensors and transducers: modeling and linearization, Digital Signal processing: Notch filtering, Multi-notch filtering, System Modeling and Identification, Digital Filter design, Robotic Manipulators: Modeling, Tracking and Control, Intelligent Instrumentation, Real Time Systems, FPGA Applications, Renewable Energy: PV Systems and alternative energy sources: Modeling and Control for MPPT, Modeling and Control of PEMFC/SOFC for MPPT etc.
Most recently he has also started working on Artificial Intelligent / Machine Learning / Deep Learning. In this area following high impact publications are the most recent contributions. The team includes B.Tech. students of the University working in their final year project. The most interesting part has been that these students are able to publish as early as their 6th semester.
