Hyperchaos Dimension

Here one can find an automated code for computing the correlation dimension of hyperchaotic attractor from time series using a modified box counting scheme.

This code is based on the research paper " Revisiting the box counting algorithm for correlation dimension analysis of hyperchaotic time series", K. P. Harikrishnan, R. Misra and G. Ambika, Commun. Nonlinear Sci. and Numerical Simulations, Vol. 17 (2012), p. 263 - 76

The code has been tested using two hyperchaotic flows (Chen & Rossler) and two time delayed hyperchaotic systems (M-G & Ikeda). The code reveals two scaling regions for hyperchaotic attractors and correspondingly two D2 values.

The number of data points should be sufficiently high for proper computation of D2 of hyperchaotic attractors.

Two sample data files, one from a hyperchaotic flow and another from Mackay-Glass system are provided as examples.
