A Whaler's Memories
"
George Howe Cook was an expert whaler, whaling from small open boats. As well as being a virtuoso with the lance he was gifted with the pen.
Cook was instrumental in the development of the "most amazing station in the world", the Whangamumu Whaling Station, catching whales with nets.
For the first time Cook's neglected memoirs are brought together. These are a unique record by a New Zealander of old-time sailing whaling.
They can be read both for enjoyment or as a research resource for New Zealand Maritime history.
