Spangen 2 - Vintage/Reconditioned
This is one of my earliest runs at my Spangen 2 pattern and has about thirty younger cousins on the field today. It was built in 2003 using 14 gauge weathered steel. It includes a well thought out chinstrap system installed by the previous owner. It has been well cared for, and at some point much of the interior has been welded making this one tough helm. The fittings are cast bronze.
It is a medium with a 28" browband and a facial length of 7.75".
Built in 14 gauge weathered steel with 12 gauge back slats, this helm features leather edging and simulated hinges on the cheekplates. It is fitted with D-rings for chinstrap mounting and the fittings are cast bronze.

This helm is 14 gauge steel with a 12 gauge ocular & nasal, all done in an excellently weathered finish. The ventilated backplate is hidden by a riveted camail and it has chinstrap D-rings installed. The fittings are cast bronze.

This six panel helm has a 14g top, 12g faceplate, and the back staves are 11g, all in weathered steel. It is equipped chinstrap mounts.

Constructed in 14 gauge brushed steel, this helm is accented with a riveted mail drape that covers a ventilated backplate. It is also equipped chinstrap D-ring mounts.

Phrygian Spangen aa
Constructed in 14 gauge using lightly weathered steel for the infill panels with a 12 gauge ocular & nasal. It has a leather drape covering the lower barrel and includes chinstrap D-ring mounts.
It is a close fitting long medium with a 28" browband, a facial length of 8", and a slightly longer than usual lower barrel.
Roman Cavalry 1l
A late roman cavalry helm constructed in 14 gauge weathered steel. It features chinstrap mounts, leather trim, and cast bronze fittings. The tail fan is articulated on a heavy leather hinge.
It is a small with a 27" browband and a grill length of 7.25"
Roman Infantry 1e
This late roman infantry helm is done in 14 gauge weathered steel with 14 gauge brushed steel for the quarter panels and cheekplate trim. It has simulated hinges, chinstrap mounts, and the tail fan is reinforced with welded rod. The nasal and finial are cast bronze.
It is a large with a 29" browband and a grill length of 8.25"
Constructed from 14 gauge mild steel with the quarter panels & cheekplate trim done in a lightly weathered finish. Chinstrap D-rings are installed and the ventilated back plate is hidden by a dark brown leather drape. The fittings are cast bronze

This eastern influenced helm is 14 gauge weathered steel with a brushed finish for the quarter panels. The welded stainless mail drape covers a 14g steel backplate that is well ventilated. The fittings are cast bronze and feature the first run of my newest finial which is pierced for plume mounting if desired. Chinstrap D-rings have been installed.
It is a medium with a browband measuring 28" and a facial length of 7.5".

C&T Phrygian Spangen a
This helm is 16 gauge steel for the faceplate and frame with 18 gauge steel for the six infill panels. It has a weathered finish and the hand sewn leather drape covers a 3/16" mesh backplate. The nasal is cast bronze.
It is a long medium with a 27" brow band and a faceplate length of 8.5"
Historic Spangen 1c
This helm is a version of my Spangen 1 pattern built for historic use with a 16g browband and 18g infill panels. It has a weathered finish and is fitted with an adjustable leather suspension system.
It is a snug medium best suited to a 22.5"-23.5" brow measurement.
