Webinar featuring guest speaker Jane Hammons! Jane will be discussing Small Teaching and Information Literacy Instruction, a talk based on the research and findings presented in James Lang’s Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning.
In Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning, James Lang uses research on how we learn to provide guidance for small changes that instructors can make in order to support student learning. This presentation will provide an overview of the Small Teaching approach and explore how librarians can use this approach to help students develop key understandings and skills related to research and information literacy.
Jane Hammons is an Associate Professor and the Head of Teaching and Learning in The Ohio State University Libraries, after previously serving as Instructional Services Librarian at Northern Kentucky University. Jane was the winner of the 2025 ALA Library Instruction Round Table Librarian Recognition Award, and she has published her research in journals such as the Journal of Academic Librarianship, the Journal of Information Literacy, and College & Research Libraries.
