Pul was the king of Assyria during Menahem's reign over Israel (2 Kings 15:17-19) and Tiglathpileser was the king of Assyria during Pekah's reign over Israel (2 Kings 15:27-29). They appear to have been co-regents during the narrative of 1 Chronicles 5:26. Although secular history treats the two as the same person, the Bible treats them as two separate identities. It is not rare for biblical history to conflict with secular history. Siding with biblical history is not an error.
